Based in Peru and Latin America, Otro Mundo supports documentaries, series, reports and international productions exploring the connections between territory, memory, culture, climate, history and social transformation.

Each project grows out of attentive fieldwork, a close relationship with its protagonists and a production approach able to work with broadcasters, institutions and international crews.

Between Andean memory, scientific research and communities that have lived at the foot of the ice for thousands of years, the film questions the forms of life emerging in territories laid bare by melting glaciers.

Five centuries after the conquest of the Americas, this documentary explores one of the symbolic and material engines of colonization: the quest for gold and the myths that turned the Americas into a land imagined as infinite, magical and destined to be conquered.

Through the work of researchers and specialists, the film questions the existence of the legendary “Cities of Gold”, reassesses the narrative inherited from the victors and brings to light the history, knowledge and Indigenous societies that flourished across the continent long before the arrival of the conquistadors.

Peru, the Market of Wishes

In Puno, on the shores of Lake Titicaca at an altitude of 3,800 meters, a singular market takes place every year: the Market of Wishes. Dozens of vendors sell small amulets called alasitas, symbolic objects representing what people hope to obtain during the year.

Between prosperity, love, housing, work and personal dreams, this episode explores a deeply rooted tradition of the Peruvian Altiplano, where ancestral beliefs inherited from the Andean world coexist with the Catholic religion introduced during colonization.

In Peru, a country home to a major share of the planet’s tropical glaciers, explorer Anne Quéméré investigates the consequences of melting ice and its impact on communities in the Cordillera Blanca.

The retreat of glaciers leads to the formation of unstable lakes, increases flood risks and threatens local communities’ access to water. Through residents’ testimonies and scientific fieldwork, the documentary addresses a concrete, human and territorial climate emergency.

Voyage en cuisine is a cultural series broadcast by ARTE, inviting viewers to discover recipes, territories and cultures through the history of the dishes that represent them.

In the episodes dedicated to Peru, the series explores emblematic flavors such as causa limeña, lomo saltado, ceviche and anticuchos, tracing their origins, cultural crossings and the social memories embedded in Peruvian cuisine.

Théo Bonin’s involvement as executive producer supports the local production work, coordination and relationship with the territory needed to build a sensitive, visual and culturally grounded culinary narrative.
